Compostable vs. biodegradable — what’s the difference?
Not all biodegradable capsules are compostable at home. Blue Circle Coffee Capsules decompose under ambient home composting conditions (20–30 °C) within 26 weeks and are TÜV Austria OK Compost HOME and Industrial certified.
Industrially compostable capsules, on the other hand, require special facilities to ensure proper decomposition due to higher temperatures needed. While technically compostable, they won’t decompose in your garden compost — and often end up in general waste if consumers don’t have access to industrial facilities. By choosing the right type of compostable packaging, you can meet your sustainability goals while offering consumers a product that truly delivers on its environmental promise.
